Veteran defender Darren Wassall joined the Brewers after retiring from the professional game through injury. Darren began his career at Nottingham Forest, spending spells on loan at Hereford Utd and Bury, before a big money move to Derby County. He made more than 100 appearances for the Rams, as well as spending time on loan at Man City and Birmingham City. A permanent move to St. Andrews followed before his decision to retire.

Although Darren only makes the occasional first team appearance, he is still heavily involved in the club through his work as manager of the Youth Team.
