A long time transfer target for Nigel Clough, Jake decided to remain in the Football League with Bury following his release from Shrewsbury Town.

A change of management at Gigg Lane saw Jake out of the first team picture and he jumped at the chance of a move to Burton Albion. Joining initially on a one month loan, his performances helped the Brewers on an 8 game unbeaten run and in the process saw his loan spell extended for another month.

Jake was part of the squad that played Manchester United in the famous FA Cup matches but then was surpringsly released after just one more game.

He joined Conference rivals Kidderminster Harriers before a move to Altrincham.
