Signed at the start of the 2006/07 season, big
things were expected of Lee Fowler. The Welsh international
midfielder came to the Pirelli Stadium with experience of playing in
the second tier of English football with Coventry City and had also
spent time with Huddersfield Town.
Lee scored the winning penalty for the Terriers
in the division 3 play-off final at the end of the 2003/04 season
but struggled to hold down a staring position the following year.
There were rumours of disagreements with Huddersfield manager Peter
Jackson when Lee was unable to break into the first team, and he was
loaned out to Scarborough.
Despite being part of the Seadogs side that was
relegated from the Conference, Lee showed enough promise to persuade
Nigel Clough to make him his first signing of the summer and it
looked as though Lee was to become an integral part of the Albion
squad.
However there were again rumours of discontent
after Lee was only named as a substitute for the FA Trophy game at
Worcester City and he was never to pull an Albion shirt on again.
Lee was loaned out to Newport County during the
January transfer window and was released at the end of the season. |
