Barry was a mid season capture from Leigh
RMI, as Nigel Clough attempted to plug the holes in a leaking defence. An
experienced campaigner at Conference level, Barry had also appeared for
Farnborough Town, Woking, Doncaster Rovers and Leigh at this level. He
started his career at Gillingham, before dropping into non-league football.
Also spent a spell at Hucknall Town in
the Unibond League, helping them to win the league title in the 2003/04
season.
Barry's arrival, along with Kris Taylor, sparked a
revival in the season and the Brewers embarked on a decent run of results.
He chipped in with a couple of important goals and by the end of the season
looked as though he had done enough to earn himself a new contract.
There was much surprise amongst the supporters when it
was announced that Barry was being released. He came back to haunt the
Brewers when along with another oldboy Michael Simpkins, he was part of the
Worksop Town team that knocked Burton out of the FA Trophy in December 2005. |
