GRAYS ATHLETIC 2 BURTON ALBION 3
(31/01/06)
The Brewers completed a four day
double in Essex after a thrilling victory over Grays Athletic. Jon
Shaw opened the scoring, only for the home side to equalise. Chris
Hall gave Albion the lead again, before a penalty got Grays back on
level terms. Aaron Webster scored the winner, and the three points
gained lift the team up to 10th place in the Nationwide Conference.

TRANSFER FLURRY AS WINDOW CLOSES
(30/01/06)
With 24 hours to go until the end of
the January transfer window, the trimming of the squad continues
with the news that Dale Anderson has joined Northwich Victoria on a
months loan deal.
Confirmation also that Jake Sedgemore
is no longer a Burton Albion player after he signed an 18 month deal
with Conference rivals Kidderminster Harriers.
With rumours that Lee Ayres and Andy
Todd could also be departing, there must surely soon be a few
players arriving at the Pirelli Stadium. CTMD will keep you posted
with any more comings and goings in the Brewers squad.

MOORE, MOORE, MOORE - HOW DO YOU
LIKE IT (30/01/06)
A
former Albion favourite looks to be making a return to the Brewers
with the news that Christian Moore is set to join the club on a free
transfer.
Christian became Burton's most
expensive export when he joined Telford United for £20,000 in
October 2003. He later moved to Worcester City, before joining
current club Kettering Town.
After joining the club in February
2000 from Ilkeston Town, Christian scored an impressive 69 goals in
165 appearances for the Brewers.

SEDGEMORE
FUTURE UNCLEAR (28/01/06)
Is he, or isn't he a Burton Albion
player? That was the mystery surrounding Jake Sedgemore today as his
only participation in today's game was as a spectator.
Jake has made 16 appearances for the
Brewers during a loan spell from Bury. However he was recalled to
his club on Friday, only to have his contract with the Shakers
cancelled by mutual consent.
He is believed to have asked Nigel
Clough for an 18 month contract to stay with the Brewers, however he
has been offered only a deal until the end of the season.

ISLAND PREVIEW
(27/01/06)
The Brewers make the long trip to
Essex to face Canvey Island at Park Lane, looking for their first
league win in 8 matches. The Burton squad will be without Darren
Stride who is suspended, whilst Aaron Webster is an injury doubt.
CTMD brings looks at the current form
of the two teams, and takes a look back at the last time the clubs
met in December 2004.

BURTON ALBION 1 HALIFAX TOWN 2
(24/01/06)
The inability to turn possession into
goals cost the Brewers dear again as they were robbed in a smash and
grab raid by Halifax Town. The visitors recovered after going behind
to Kris Taylor's goal, albeit helped by the reward of a rather
dubious looking penalty in the second half.

GRAVES
OUT ON LOAN (22/01/06)
Striker Eric Graves has joined
Nationwide North club Gainsborough Trinity on a months loan.
Eric has struggled to make an impact
in the first team since arriving in the summer, making only 3 starts
and 4 substitute appearances. He has managed two goals, both coming
in the Birmingham Senior Cup.
With Nigel Clough looking to bring
another striker to the club, Eric's opportunities with the Brewers
will be further limited, and it will be no surprise to see his loan
deal made permanent.

BREWERS
v WOKING MATCH PREVIEW
(20/01/06)
After two weeks of cup fever, it
almost seems mundane to be looking forward to a Nationwide
Conference fixture again. Hopefully though, some of the 11,000 fans
that made the trip to Old Trafford will be excited about seeing the
Brewers in action against Woking, and will come along in numbers to
the Pirelli Stadium tomorrow afternoon.

BURTON TRIO IN ENGLAND CALL UP
(19/01/06)
Last night's disappointment was
quickly eased for three players today after the announcement of the
England National Game XI squad. Ryan Austin, Jon Shaw and Shaun
Harrad have all been called up to the squad to face Italy on 15th
February at Cambridge United's Abbey Stadium.
A further boost for Burton Albion was
received with the announcement that the National Game XI will play a
match against Holland at the Pirelli Stadium in November.

MANCHESTER UNITED 5 BURTON ALBION 0
(18/01/06)
The FA Cup experience is over for
another year after the Brewers were outclassed by their Premiership
opponents. The players still put in a good performance in front of
the huge away following that made the trip up to Old Trafford. The
5-0 scoreline was perhaps a bit harsh, but United showed exactly why
they are the second best club in the country, with a fine display of
passing, movement and finishing.
It is back to league action on
Saturday when Woking are the visitors to the Pirelli Stadium.

BREWERS LEFT TO FLY NON-LEAGUE FLAG
(17/01/06)
Burton
Albion are the last remaining non-league side left in the FA Cup
after both Nuneaton Borough and Tamworth suffered heartbreak in
tonight's replays.
Nuneaton travelled to the Riverside to
face Premiership Middlesbrough and lost 5-2. The result was harsh on
the Nationwide North side, after they put up stiff resistance for
the first 30 minutes.
Tamworth took Championship side Stoke
City to extra time and penalties after the game finished 1-1 at the
end of 90 minutes. A packed Lamb Ground were left on tenterhooks
through the spot kicks, before the visitors eventually won through
5-4 on penalties.

FANS SAY NO TO HONOUR PARADE
(17/01/06)
Plans to hold an open top bus tour for
the Burton Albion players have been dismissed by the fans. The
council, in conjunction with Coors Brewers, are planning a
celebration, regardless of the result at tomorrow night's game.
However many fans believe that the
gesture is not appropriate, and that the best way for fans to show
their support and appreciation would be turn up in large numbers for
the forthcoming Conference games against Woking and Halifax Town.
A similar tour was held in 2002 to
celebrate the club winning their first league title, when finishing
as champions of the Unibond League earned promotion to the
Nationwide Conference.

GRAYS
AWAY DAY DATE ANNOUNCED
(16/01/06)
The new date for the Conference game
away at Grays Athletic will certainly test the commitment and
dedication of the travelling Brewers fans. The game at the
Recreation Ground has been scheduled for Tuesday 31st January and
comes just a couple of days after the away game at Canvey Island.
It is not expected that many of the
11,000 that will be travelling up the M6 to Old Trafford will be
making the journey to Essex.

THREE SIGN DEALS
(12/01/06)
The managers office at the Pirelli
Stadium has been a busy place today with three players signing deals
with the club.
Midfielder Kris Taylor has returned
for a second spell with the Brewers, and joins on loan until the end
of the season from Walsall. Also signing up until the end of the
season is Saul Deeney. The 'will he, won't he' saga has finally been
resolved, after the goalkeeper was given an ultimatum by Nigel
Clough.
Also signing a new two and a half year
deal is Aaron Webster, with Andy Corbett also set to extend his
contract very soon.

STOURBRIDGE 4 BURTON ALBION 1
(10/01/06)
A strong Burton Albion team crashed
out of the Birmingham Senior Cup in embarrassing style with defeat
against Midland Alliance side Stourbridge.
Any chance of picking up a trophy this
season now looks to have all but disappeared. Eric Graves scored a
consolation goal.
Albion Team: Taylor, Henshaw,
Brayford, Ayres, Sedgemore, Clough, Graves, Anderson, Shaw, Ducros,
Todd Subs: Austin, Harrad, Corbett.
On a positive note though, Tamworth
lost at home to Accrington Stanley and remain second from bottom in
the Conference.

(09/01/06)
The Brewers continue on their pursuit
of silverware this season as they face Stourbridge in the quarter
final of the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday evening (10th Jan kick
off 7.45pm). Whilst many fans may still harbour dreams of FA Cup
glory, this competition gives Burton Albion the only realistic
chance of silverware this season.

BREWERS ON THE BOX AGAIN!
(09/01/06)
Just when you thought it couldn't get
any better, the BBC have announced that they will be televising the
replay against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
The decision means that an even bigger
payday is guaranteed for the club with £150,000 paid to each club
for TV coverage. On top of the bumper gate receipts that the Brewers
are set to receive from a 40,000+ attendance, the club could be set
to make another £500,000 from the replay on Wednesday night.

WOLVES

(09/01/06)
The draw for the fourth round of the
FA Cup was made this lunchtime, and a trip to Wolverhampton
Wanderers await the Brewers if they can beat Manchester United in
next Wednesday's replay at Old Trafford.
Should Burton Albion pull off the
greatest result in FA Cup history, then they will travel to Molineux
during the weekend of 28/29th January.

KRIS TAYLOR RETURNS
(08/01/06)
In an exclusive interview with CTMD
this afternoon, midfielder Kris Taylor has revealed that he has
joined the club on a loan deal from Walsall.
Taylor made six appearances for the
Brewers, scoring four goals, during a similar loan spell last
season. He returned to his club and looked to be back in manager
Paul Merson's first team plans. However he has recently fallen out
of favour and is looking forward to a return to Burton.
When asked whether his deal would
become permanent, Kris could not comment as he still has a year left
on his contract at Walsall.
Kris should be available for the trip
to Stourbridge in the Birmingham Senior Cup on Tuesday night.

SUPPORTERS MATCH PREVIEW
(06/01/06)
Burton Albion head into their game
with Manchester United this Sunday full of belief that they can get
a result against the Northerners. No, we’re not talking about the FA
Cup Third Round Match, rather the game that sees Albion’s Supporters
team taking on their United Counterparts.
Following their cancelled game against Kidderminster in late
November, the Albion Supporters have been without a game - so
naturally are all raring to go in an encounter that hopefully will
see the newly-reformed side pick up their first win with this squad.
Albion’s last match was against Peterborough, on the morning before
the FA Cup First Round match that saw the real Albion earn a
hard-fought 0-0 draw. The supporters weren’t so lucky however,
losing 6-4 against a side who made the most of their chances. The
nine Albion supporters were boosted that day by two Posh fans who
more than helped make the numbers up with some excellent
performances.
This Sunday should see Albion arrive with a mammoth 18-man squad, a
side featuring a mixture of the new squad with a decent amount of
the squad that played the last time Albion had regular matches.
Albion from: Broomfield, A. Drew, M. Drew, Fletcher, Francis, A.
Jones, T. Jones, Kirkland, Mason, O’Neil, Oakshott, Turner, Whetton,
Jon, Luke + a couple of 'ringers'
The game takes place at Shobnall Leisure Complex this Sunday morning
with an 11.30am kick-off. Spectators welcome (Admission free, though
you’ll probably be asked to buy a fanzine!).

UNITED
WHEEL OUT THE BIG GUNS
(06/01/06)
Manchester United manager Sir Alex
Ferguson looks to be taking no chances as he announces that a very
strong squad will be travelling to the Pirelli Stadium for Sunday's
game.
Whilst some of the 'superstars' may be
rested, or on the bench, the side that will take the field will
still provide a very stiff test for the Brewers. The United boss has
confirmed that he will play a 'strong' side for the match and that
Howard, Saha, Silvestre, Solskjaer, Park, Brown, Bardsley and
Ronaldo will definitely play in the match.
Manchester United from: Howard, Van
der Sar, Steele, Neville, Bardsley, Ferdinand, Brown, Silvestre,
O'Shea, Richardson, Ronaldo, Park, Fletcher, Smith, Giggs, Saha, Van
Nistelrooy, Rooney, Solskjaer, Rossi, Pique

MIXED NEWS ON TRANSFER TARGETS
(05/01/06)
The transfer window is now open, and
once the money from Sunday's game is safely in the bank, Nigel
Clough will surely be going shopping to improve the squad for the
second half of the season.
The manager has expressed his interest
in two former loan stars returning to the club, but it looks as
though at least one of them will not be available. Whilst Walsall
manager Paul Merson has stated that he will listen to offers for
Kris Taylor, Lee Bell looks to be back in favour at Crewe and is set
to make the starting line-up for their FA Cup game against Preston.
One player already signed up though is
Jake Sedgemore who has had his loan deal from Bury extended by
another month.

BOVRIL BEEF UP SUPPORT FOR BURTON ALBION

The FA Cup is the World's favourite
cup competition and the 3rd round epitomises the so-called 'romance'
of the cup when David Rovers dreams of a plum home tie against
Goliath City. The magic of the cup comes to Burton next week as the
mighty Manchester United come to town to take on Nigel Clough's
Burton Albion. More......

CRANE OFF-LOADED

Dan Crane has been released by Burton Albion. The stopper joined the
club in September 2004 and made a total of 59 appearances for the
club. He made 13 appearances this season before being sent out on
loan to Moor Green.
It is rumoured that Dan could be
joining League Two side Rushden & Diamonds in the next few days.
