BREWERS HIT ROCK BOTTOM AGAIN
(29/10/05)
With Burton's game with Altrincham not
until tomorrow, results elsewhere in the Conference have seen the
Brewers slide to the foot of the table for the second time this
season.
Scarborough, who were the only team
between Burton and the foot of the table, picked up a point in a 3-3
draw with fellow strugglers Aldershot Town.
A draw would be enough for the Brewers
to move up the table, whilst a win could see them end the day as
high as 16th place. The last time Nigel Clough's team went into a
match at the bottom of the table, they ended up with a 2-1 win away
at Exeter City!!!
Tomorrow's game at the Pirelli Stadium
kicks off at 2pm.

FA
CUP PREVIEW (21/10/05)
The Brewers begin on the 2005/06 FA
Cup trail with a Staffordshire derby against Leek Town. Despite the
visitors being bottom of the Unibond League Premier Division, this
could still be a tricky test.
The Brewers will have to field a
makeshift midfield as Darren Stride is suspended after his red card
at Hereford, and Lee Bell has been refused permission to play in the
FA Cup by Crewe. It leaves Nigel Clough with only 15 first team
players after Dan Crane and Eric Graves both went out on loan this
week to Moor Green and Gresley Rovers respectively.

It has been a busy day on the
grapevine today, with new fixture dates and player movements to
report.

section has been updated.
Goalkeeper Dan Crane has moved to
Conference North side Moor Green on loan after losing his place in
the Burton side to Saul Deeney. Dan will join up with a trio of
ex-Brewers, as Phil Midworth, Ben Petty and James Coates are all
turning out for the Moors.

HEREFORD UNITED 2 BURTON ALBION 0
(15/10/05)
It was the same old story at Edgar
Street as the Brewers failed to convert pressure into goal scoring
opportunities, whilst their opponents took their chances and all the
points. A miserable afternoon was capped by the dismissal of Darren
Stride for two bookable offences.

BURTON ALBION 3 STEVENAGE BOROUGH 1
(08/10/05)
Three goals in the first half hour set
up a fantastic win at a rain soaked Pirelli Stadium. Aaron Webster
opened the scoring, bagging his 50th goal for the club in the
process, before two goals from Jon Shaw.
The visitors staged a siege on the
Burton penalty area in the second half, but could only manage to
pull one goal back through Anthony Elding.
The win lifts the Brewers to 18th
place, and along with other results drops Tamworth to the foot of
the table.

AUSTIN
IN POLE POSITION (08/10/05)
Defender Ryan Austin currently tops
the table in the contest to be crowned CTMD player of the season.
Despite not featuring in the first five games of the season, Ryan
has put in a string of impressive performances in recent weeks which

place in the side, but his 100% commitment in each game he plays has

CLOUGH RINGS THE CHANGES
(07/10/05)
There will be two new faces in the
line-up to face Stevenage Borough tomorrow. Goalkeeper Saul Deeney
joins on a non-contract basis after being released by Notts County,
whilst midfielder Lee Bell joins on a months loan from Crewe
Alexandra.
Both players have a wealth of league
football under their belts, and fans will be hoping that the arrival
of the two players can have a similar effect to the arrival of Kris
Taylor and Barry Miller last season.

DAN
DOWN UNDER (05/10/05)
Former Albion goalkeeper Dan Robinson
e-mailed the fanzine to let everyone know how he has been getting on
with his new club, Gisborne City, in New Zealand.
Dan said "We had a great season in
the top division and finished 3rd. I played every game and was
pleased with how the season went for me. I'm staying out here for
the foreseeable future as have a great job and a house on the beach
in what is as near as I know to paradise! I'm Gisborne's soccer
co-ordinator, and for the summer months (Nov-Feb) I'm running beach
soccer here and I cant wait! I have spoken with Nigel Clough in the
last month or so, and the door is still open for me at Burton, but
at the moment I'm very happy here.
Anyway, I hope the season picks up and
that Webby and the boys get it sorted. I am sure that they will if
the fans stick with them."

BURTON ALBION 1 ALDERSHOT TOWN 2
(02/10/05)
The good work done with fine away
results at Exeter and Cambridge was quickly undone by the Brewer's
now familiar ability to win at home. Aldershot Town moved off the
bottom of the table with this win, which in turn pushed Burton to
last place for the second time this season. |
