BURTON ALBION 5 LEWES
2 (30/08/08)
Albion
fans were treated to a goal rush at the Pirelli Stadium as the
Brewers survived a first half scare to eventually run out
comfortable winners.
Greg Pearson gave the
home side the lead with a neat turn and shot in the box but the
visitors hit back through a deflected shot from Scott Taylor and
then took the lead from the penalty spot. Michael Standing
dispatched the spot kick after Albion debutant Adam Yates handled in
the area.
Yates turned from villain
to hero five minutes later when he provided the cross that allowed
Keith Gilroy to drill in the equaliser from 12 yards.
Nigel Clough rang the
changes at half time taking off Brayford and Pearson and replacing
them with Austin and Harrad. It took just 12 minutes for the
tactical switch to pay off when Aaron Webster scored a trademark
goal, heading in from McGrath's corner.
Gilroy's skill set up
Shaun Harrad to score the fourth goal before Webster stooped to head
in his second and Burton's fifth goal in the 89th minute.
The three points keep
Burton Albion in touch with the league leaders Forest Green Rovers
who are just 2 points ahead of the Brewers who stand in 6th place on
11 points from six games.

CLOUGH LOOKS SET TO
STRENGTHEN SQUAD (27/08/08)
With the transfer window
closing at the end of the month, Nigel Clough looks set to have a
busy few days with a number of possible transfer deals in the
pipeline.
It looks certain that
Morecambe defender Adam Yates will arrive in a loan deal in an
attempt to shore up Burton's leaky defence. Yates, a former Crewe
and Halifax Town player, normally plays in the right back position
but can operate anywhere across the defence.
Nigel Clough has also run
the rule over former Coventry City midfielder Stuart Giddings and
ex-Sheffield United striker Dean Oliver. Both players featured in
yesterday's friendly at Mansfield.

BURTON ALBION 2
KIDDERMINSTER HARRIERS 2 (25/08/08)
The Bank Holiday double
bill ends with only one point from a possible six after missed
chances and defensive defending mistakes again proved costly.
Despite twice taking the
lead through Greg Pearson and John Brayford, the visitors hit back
to equalise on both occasions.
Results elsewhere mean
that the Brewers drop down to 11th place in the table but still only
four points away from league leaders Salisbury City.

HISTON 4 BURTON ALBION
3 (23/08/08)
Burton's unbeaten start
to the season came to an end at the Glassworld Stadium despite a
thrilling fightback .
The Brewers were three
goals done after just 30 minutes, including two penalties, but
clawed their way back to trail by one goal at the interval.
John Brayford looked to
have salvaged an unlikely point when he got the decisive touch in a
goalmouth scramble but hearts were broken just minutes later when
Jack Midson headed in the winner.
Much will be made of the
performance of the referee who awarded three penalties, dismissed
Histon's Nathanial Knight-Percival and booked three other players.

BURTON ALBION 3 WOKING
2 (16/08/08)
The Brewers continued
their unbeaten run despite another less than convincing performance
against rock-bottom Woking.
The visitors took a two
goal lead following a couple of defensive blunders from Tony James
and as the jeers rang around the ground at half time it was almost
impossible to see a way back into the game.
The comeback came from an
unlikely source when substitute Marc Goodfellow, often a target for
the boo-boys, deflected in a John Brayford cross to pull a goal
back.
Brayford was involved
again for the equaliser when he was hauled down in the box, Greg
Pearson stepping up to score from the spot.
The turnaround was
completed on 83 minutes when Corbett swung in a cross that
Goodfellow poked home at the far post.
The Burton fans were
ecstatic, although there were strangely very few of them inside the
Pirelli Stadium, and the Brewers moved up to fourth place in the
Blue Square Premier.

BURTON ALBION 1
NORTHWICH VICTORIA 1 (12/08/08)
Aaron Webster's late goal
snatched a valuable point that the Brewers barely deserved after the
visitors had dominated the game from start to finish.
Northwich deservedly took
the lead in the 29th minute when Darryn Stamp headed home and only
good saves from Kevin Poole prevented the lead being extended.
The visitors goal was
rarely troubled until Ryan Austin's thunderous free kick on the hour
mark. The equaliser came with eight minutes to go when Webster
headed home from Andy Corbett's cross to maintain the unbeaten start
to the season.

the way to earn the three points.

WALSALL WIN BRINGS NEW
SIGNING (26/07/08)
Burton Albion rounded off
a good afternoon's work by agreeing terms with ex-Mansfield defender
Jake Buxton following their 1-0 win against Walsall.
Buxton was the captain of
the Stags last season and made 46 appearances but blotted his copy
book by picking up three red cards, including a dismissal in the
final game of the season. If signed by the Brewers, Jake would be
suspended for the first 3 games of the season, missing the matches
against Salisbury City, Northwich Victoria and Woking.

BURTON ALBION 1
NOTTINGHAM FOREST 3 (22/07/08)
The
visitors triumphed in the inaugural Treetops Hospice Trophy match
but it was charity that was the winner as a sizeable crowd turned
out for this pre-season friendly.
Michael Simpson headed
the Brewers into the lead but Saul Deeney's pushed Aron Davie's shot
into his own net to level the score. Forest took the lead through
Lewis Gugan before Nathan Tyson added a third goal.
Burton included former
Hereford, Cambridge United and Forest Green striker Daniel Carey-Bartram
in the starting line-up, alongside fellow trialist Jonty Richter and
