LATEST NEWS

WOKING 0 BURTON ALBION 0 (28/02/09)

It is a case of two points dropped at Kingfield this afternoon as the Brewers missed a host of chances to maintain their lead at the top of the table.

The hosts put up a gutsy performance but rarely failed Kevin Poole in the Albion goal, whilst Shaun Harrad was particularly guilty of spurning good chances at the other end.

With Histon winning 3-0 at bottom club Lewes, the gap at the top of the table is down to 13 points which could be reduced to 7 points if the Stutes win their two games in hand.

BURTON ALBION 2 WREXHAM 1 (17/02/09)

The Brewers continued their unbeaten league run with a gutsy comeback against promotion chasing Wrexham.

The visitors dominated for long periods in the first half and deservedly took the lead through Jefferson Louis but a debut goal from Martin Butler and a first league goal from Lee Morris turned the game around.

The only sour note of the evening was the red card shown to Lee Morris for a clumsy challenge in injury time which means he will now miss the next three matches.

SNOW STOPS PLAY AT STONEBRIDGE ROAD (12/02/09)

This evenings Blue Square Premier game at Ebbsfleet United was abandoned after 65 minutes due to snow.

The home side were leading the game after Jamie Hand scored in the third minute and it looked as though the Brewers would struggle to get anything from the match.

The referee had no choice to call the game to an early conclusion after the snow, which had been constantly falling even before kick off, completely covered the pitch markings and made it impossible for the officials to make decisions.

VOTE GOODFELLOW IN GOAL OF THE MONTH COMPETITION (10/02/09)

Marc Goodfellow's strike against York City on New Years Day has been selected as one of the contenders in the Blue Square goal of the month competition.

Marc is joined on the list of nominations for January by former Brewer Paul Carden,  Richard Brodie of York City, Stevenage Borough's Steve Morison and Jason Walker from Barrow.

You can vote for your favourite by visiting the Blue Square Website.

BURTON ALBION 3 RUSHDEN & DIAMONDS 0 (09/02/09)

The Brewers produced a gem of a performance against Diamonds to extend their lead at the top of the table to 19 points.

The first half was fairly even, but John McGrath's strike gave Burton the advantage at the break. The second half was all Albion's and Ryan Austin's effort was deflected into the net  by Shaun Harrad to double the lead just one minute into the second period, before Harrad grabbed his second to make it 3-0 just after the hour mark.

THIRD TIME LUCKY FOR DIAMONDS GAME? (07/02/09)

Following the postponement of this afternoon's game. the two sides will attempt to play the game on Monday evening (weather permitting).

If the weather intervenes again then the match will be played on Tuesday 10th March.

MAC MAKES FIRST SIGNING (05/02/09)

Roy McFarland has made his first signing as Brewers manager with the acquisition of striker Martin Butler.

Butler, 34, played under the Albion boss at Cambridge United and can also count Walsall, Reading, Rotherham United and Grimsby Town as former clubs.

He has not played a competitive game since the end of August when he turned out for Grimsby in a League Cup game against Blackburn Rovers and has been without a club since October when his contract was cancelled by the Mariners.
