BURTON ALBION 3 NORTHAMPTON TOWN 2 (29/08/09)
Life
at the Pirelli Stadium is certainly not dull this season as the
Brewers held on to record a thrilling third win of the season.
Fourteen goals in three League Two matches have served up plenty of
entertainment for the supporters, although this game should have
been a routine victory after Shaun Harrad and Michael Simpson gave
the Brewers a 3-0 lead after just 10 minutes.
The
visitors came out fighting in the second half and reduced the
deficit to just one goal with nine minutes left.
Four
minutes of stoppage time kept hearts in mouths until the end, but
Albion held on to grab all three points.

DEFENDER GIVEN FRIENDLY CHANCE (25/08/09)
Burton Albion will give former Yeovil Town defender Aaron Brown a
chance to impress in a friendly game at Ilkeston Town tonight (kick
off 7:45pm).
Brown has been training with the Brewers since his release by the
Glovers in the summer. The 26 year old started his career with
Tamworth and can list Stafford Rangers, Bournemouth, Walsall and
Reading among his former clubs.

LINCOLN CITY 0 BURTON ALBION 2 (22/08/09)
A
sincil-ating first half performance from the Brewers was enough to
earn a first ever away victory in the Football League.
Ryan
Austin headed in the opening goal from John McGrath's corner, and
the afternoon was rounded off with an imp-ressive lob from 25 yards
four minutes into stoppage time.
The
Brewers produced a string of great chances and could have won by a
landslide but for the heroics of the Lincoln keeper.

LINCOLN CITY v BURTON ALBION TEAM NEWS (21/08/09)
Paul
Peschisolido's squad is boosted by the return of Marc Goodfellow as
the Brewers aim to bounce back from the midweek home defeat by
Torquay.
Greg
Pearson and Guy Branston have both had loan spells at Sincil Bank
and will be looking to impress against their former club.
Lincoln manager Peter Jackson faces a mini injury crisis ahead of
the first meeting between the two clubs. The Imps could be without
three first team midfield players, meaning Jackson may have to hand
debuts to untried teenagers.

BURTON ALBION 0 TORQUAY UNITED (18/08/09)
Paul
Peschisolido's mission to create 'Fortress Pirelli Stadium' has been
dealt a huge blow with defeat against fellow promoted club Torquay
United.
Although the starting line-up was unchanged, the Brewers produced a
performance that was unrecognisable from Saturday's emphatic win.
The visitors on the other hand produced a flowing attacking
performance that was rewarded with two first half goals.

BURTON ALBION 5 MORECAMBE 2 (15/08/09)
The
Brewers picked up their first ever win in the Football League in
emphatic style at the Pirelli Stadium this afternoon.
Greg
Pearson opened the scoring after just three minutes before Russell
Penn opened his goal account in the 16th minute. The visitors pulled
a goal back within seconds but Shaun Harrad scored in his first
start of the season to restore the two goal advantage at the break.
Pearson earned a penalty and stepped up to convert his third goal of
the season but the hosts could not afford to relax as Morecambe kept
pushing forward. Phil Jevons scored to reduce the deficit before
John McGrath scored a fine solo goal to secure all three points.
The
win lifts the Brewers up to 8th place in the League 2 table, two
places above Tuesday nights visitors Torquay United.

BURTON ALBION v MORECAMBE TEAM NEWS (15/08/09)
Paul
Peschisolido has additional options in attack available to him ahead
of the historic first home league game against Morecambe.
Shaun Harrad is available after completing his suspension and Robin
Shroot returns from international duty with Northern Ireland U21.
Goalkeeper Artur Krysiak may be in line to make his debut after
joining the Brewers on loan from Manchester City.
Morecambe will be looking to bounce back from a 5-1 defeat at
Preston in the Carling Cup. The Shrimps have influential skipper Jim
Bentley available for the first time this season and will also have
striker Phil Jevons back from illness.
The
Shrimps will be looking to build on an impressive record at Burton,
with only one defeat in five visits in the Conference. The Brewers
may have finally thrown off their hoodoo against today's visitors
though after winning both of the last two meetings.

READING 5 BURTON ALBION 1 (11/08/09)
The
Brewers first ever appearance in the Carling Cup ended in defeat as
they were comfortably beaten at the Madejski Stadium.
Three goals in the first nine minutes ended any chances of a
giant-killing and the hosts added a fourth goal before the break.
Albion came out with more belief in the second half and Jimmy
Phillips pulled a goal back after 59 minutes before Reading restored
their four goal advantage.

CARLING CUP TEAM NEWS
(11/08/09)
Paul Peschisolido will be forced
to make changes from the team that faced Shrewsbury after Robin
Shroot earned a call up to the Northern Ireland U21 squad. Greg
Pearson, who scored Albion's goal on Saturday coming from the
substitutes bench, may start alongside Richard Walker.
Shaun Harrad is still suspended
while Aaron Webster and Keith Gilroy remain on the injury list.
Reading will be without seven players due to international call ups,
and the Royals are expected to field a mixture of first team and
reserve players. The home side will be without six players that
featured in their goal less draw at home to Nottingham Forest. Ryan
Bertrand, Andre Bikey, Simon Church, Brynjar Gunnarsson, Shane Long,
Stephen Hunt, Jem Karacan and Hal Robson-Kanu will all be away
representing their respective countries.
The
match at the Madjeski Stadium kicks off at 8pm.

BLUES KEEPER JOINS ON LOAN (10/08/09)
Manager Paul Peschisolido has acted to quickly to resolve the Albion
goalkeeping issues by signing Birmingham City stopper Artur Krysiak
on a one month loan.
Krysiak, 19, has yet to make a first team appearance for his parent
club but has gained valuable first team experience on loan at
Motherwell, Swansea City, Gretna and York City.
It
appears that Artur may not be registered in time to take over from
Shane Redmond between the sticks and so the young Irishman could get
a chance to make up for his errors against Shrewsbury on Saturday.
(Thanks to Ian for the correction)

SHREWSBURY TOWN 3 BURTON ALBION 1 (08/08/09)
The
Brewers failed to make a winning start in League Two but they can
take a lot of positives from their first appearance at this level.
Two
goalkeeping blunders by debutant Shane 'Redface' Redmond allowed the
home side to take all three points in a game that was very evenly
matched.
Redmond allowed Jake Robinson's shot to squirm between his legs
after just 10 minutes and whilst he was well beaten by Dave
Hibbert's header for the second goal, he was at fault for the third
goal. Joss Labadie's free kick looked to have been comfortably
saved, but the ball escaped from Redmond's hands and into the net.
Greg
Pearson had briefly given Albion hope when he came off the bench to
score to make the score 2-1, and Richard Walker looked to have
equalised but was ruled to have been in an offside position.
The
Shrews third goal ended any chance of a late comeback, but the
Brewers produced some good football at times and fans will know that
Burton will play worse this season and still win games and so can
take heart from this afternoon.

IT'S
HISTORY TIME (07/08/09)
We
are nearly there. Just a few hours until Burton Albion Football Club
begin life in the Football League and the season kicks off with a
visit to the Prostar Stadium to face Shrewsbury Town.
The
task facing the Brewers could not be any tougher. The Shrews were
just one game away from promotion to League One, but suffered the
agony of defeat in the Wembley play-off final.
Hundreds of Albion fans will be making the short trip to Shropshire
to support the team and to witness a number of 'firsts' for the
club. The first Football League match will see Paul Peschisolido's
make his competitive bow as manager and up to nine players could
make their debuts for the Brewers.
'Pesch'
has a very strong squad to choose from with only three players
definately ruled out for this game. Aaron Webster and Keith Gilroy
remain on the injured list, whilst Shaun Harrad is suspended.
Score Prediction: This game will be a baptism of fire and to return
home with a win is a big ask, but a point is definitely a realistic
possibility. A 1-1 draw with Richard Walker frustrating his former
club with a late equaliser.

ALTRINCHAM 2 BURTON ALBION 3 (01/08/09)
The
Brewers produced a second half fight back to overturn a two goal
deficit at Moss Lane.
Paul
Peschisolido will certainly have been given some strong pointers
over which players will make the starting line-up next Saturday at
Shrewsbury, with those players that lined up in the second half
staking a much stronger claim.
The
home side opened up a two goal lead but nine second half
substitutions for the Brewers turned the game around and a three
goal burst in seven minutes ensured the pre-season preparations
ended with a victory.
Richard Walker grabbed Albion's opener before Jacques Maghoma
crashed home the equaliser. Robin Shroot scored his fourth
pre-season goal with a headed winner.

JIMMY JOINS THE BREWERS (01/08/09)
With
just seven days until the start of Burton Albion's first season in
the Football League, the squad has been strengthened further by the
signing of winger Jimmy Phillips.
Jimmy has been on trial at the Pirelli Stadium following his release
from Stoke City and he has impressed with a string of good
performances. At 19 years old he is an exciting prospect and will
provide strong competition for the wide midfield positions in the
Albion line-up.
Jimmy has signed a two year deal and will wear the number 17 shirt
this season.
Paul
Peschisolido now has 21 first team players in his squad and there
could be further additions with the futures of trial players Marc
Edworthy and Richard Jackson yet to decided.
