BURTON ALBION 3 BIRMINGHAM CITY XI 2 (25/07/09)
The
Brewers put in an impressive display to beat a young Blues side at
the Pirelli Stadium.
Robin Shroot took just four minutes to score against his parent
club, and only a string of saves from visiting keeper Artur Krysiak
prevented a rout before half time. Birmingham grabbed two goals to
give them a shock lead at the break.
Burton continued to dominate the game in the second half but had to
wit until the final minutes to wrap up the victory. Richard Walker
grabbed his first goal for the club with a tap in following good
work from Marc Goodfellow before man of the match Jaques Maghoma
curled in a late winner.

ROCESTER 0 BURTON ALBION 8 (21/07/09)
The
Brewers went goal crazy at Hillsfield tonight and picked up a first
win for Albion manager Paul Peschisolido.
The
Romans were routed 7-0 last week by Port Vale, and Burton showed
that they could hold their own in League 2 by going one better than
their new rivals.
Two
goals from Marc Goodfellow, along with strikes from Robin Shroot and
John McGrath put the Brewers 4-0 up at half time. Second half goals
from Shaun Harrad, Jimmy Phillips, Guy Branston and Greg Pearson
completed the massacre.

PIRELLI PITCH WINS AWARD (19/07/09)
The
excellent state of the playing surface at the Pirelli Stadium has
been acknowledged in the Groundhopper end of season awards.
The
Groundhopper website (www.stickypalms.blogspot.com)
provides reports and reviews from grounds and games across the
entire non-league pyramid and the sites author is a frequent visitor
to the CTMD message board.
Former Albion defender Jake Buxton was also recognised in the
websites team of the year.

BURTON ALBION 1 NOTTINGHAM FOREST 4 (18/07/09)
Paul
Peschisolido is still looking for his first victory as Albion boss
after this second defeat against Championship opposition.
The
Brewers matched the visitors for long periods of the game, but
Forest striker Nathan Tyson showed the gulf in class between the two
sides with a 10 minute hat-trick in the second half.
Burton included three trialists in the team along with new signings
Guy Branston and Jaques Maghoma. Crystal Palace winger Kieran Djiali
had a couple of good chances to get on the scoresheet and could get
get another chance to impress in Tuesday nights friendly away at
Rocester.

BREWERS SIGN TWO IN AMAZING TRANSFER COUP
(16/07/09)
Burton Albion today unveiled two new signings as the club prepares
for life in the Football League.
Exciting young midfield player Jaques Maghoma has put pen to paper,
signing a two year deal after impressing in the match against Derby
on Saturday.
Also
in at the Pirelli Stadium is powerful defender Guy Branston who
chose the Brewers ahead of League 2 rivals Torquay United. Guy has
made over 300 first team appearances, most of them in the Football
League with a host of clubs including Colchester United, Lincoln
City, Rotherham United and Oldham Athletic. He was a major influence
in helping Kettering Town have the best defensive record in the Blue
Square Premier last season, although he did miss several games
through suspension.
Maghoma will wear the number 19 shirt, with Branston lining up at
number 20.

BURTON ALBION 2 ILKESTON TOWN 3 (14/07/09)
Paul
Peschisolido got another chance to run the rule over his new charges
in a friendly played behind closed doors at Rangemore.
The
team included a number of trial players, including a second run out
for Jimmy Phillips. The former Stoke City midfielder scored the
opening goal before the visitors opened a 3-1 lead.
Matt
Richards, another trialist who featured in Saturday's defeat to
Derby scored the Brewers' second goal.
Two
Crystal Palace players also featured in the game after being
recommended by former Albion boss Neil Warnock. Striker Simon Thomas
and midfield player Kieran Djiali played in the game alongside
former Derby County defender Marc Edworthy.

BURTON ALBION 0 DERBY COUNTY 1 (11/07/09)
The
Brewers started life under Paul Peschisolido with a defeat but the
performance will give the manager and fans a confidence boost ahead
of the new season.
A
crowd of 3518 were treated to an entertaining game that was settled
in the first half by a headed goal from Rams striker Chris Porter.
All
of Burton's new summer signings featured in the game along with a
number of trial players. Former Tottenham Hotspur reserve player
Jaques Maghoma looked the pick of the players hoping to earn a
contract with the Brewers, while Robin Shroot, Russell Penn, Shane
Redmond and Paul Boertien all made impressive debuts.

Burton 1st half team: Redmond, Corbett, Stride,
Austin, Boertien, Goodfellow, Maghoma, McGrath, Shroot, Walker,
Pearson.
2nd half team: Redmond, Corbett, James, Austin,

BREWERS
LAUNCH NEW AWAY KIT (07/07/09)
Burton Albion have unveiled a new away kit ahead of the club's first
season in the Football League.
The
strip (pictured left), which is manufactured by local sportswear
firm TAG, features a white shirt with royal blue trim along with
blue shorts and socks.
Albion fans will be able to purchase the new strip from the club
shop from 25th July with prices ranging from £28.99 to £39.99 for
the shirt , £12 to £15 for the shorts and £6 for the socks.
Numbers and names can be added to the shirt for an additional cost,
but fans of the new manager should beware. Putting Peschisolido will
set you back an extra £12!
Rumours that the Brewers have signed Venegoor of Hesselink to cash
in on shirt lettering sales have so far not been confirmed!

FOREST KEEPER JOINS IN LOAN DEAL (06/07/09)
Nottingham
Forest reserve goalkeeper Shane Redmond has joined the Brewers on
loan to fill the space left by the departure of Saul Deeney.
Redmond, 20, is a Republic of Ireland U21 international and is rated
very highly at the City Ground by Reds manager Billy Davies.
Although yet to make a first team appearance for his parent club,
Shane spent last season on loan at Eastwood Town helping them to
reach the third round of the FA Cup.
Shane arrives at the Pirelli Stadium as a former Albion goalkeeper
joins Forest. Lee Camp play 5 games for the Brewers during the
2002/03 season including the 4-7 defeat at home to Telford United.
