LATEST NEWS

BARNET 1 BURTON ALBION 1 (27/03/10)

The Brewers had to settle for a point after Greg Pearson's goal was cancelled out by Barnet's Mark Hughes.

Albion dominated the first half but failed to build on Pearson's 18th goal of the season and Hughes struck the equaliser in stoppage time at the end of the first half.

Both sides had chances to take the lead in the second half but a draw was a fair reflection of the match.

ACCRINGTON STANLEY 0 BURTON ALBION 2 (23/03/10)

Goals from Shaun Harrad and Greg Pearson gave the Brewers their first ever win at the Crown Ground and kept alive the chances of a play-off place at the end of the season.

Harrad's goal came in the first half when he slotted home his 17th goal of the season from Cleveland Taylor's fine cross. The home side put the Albion defence under pressure in the second half but could not find a way back into the game, and Greg Pearson secured all three points after he found himself on the end of Artur Krysiak's long clearance and poked the ball into the net from just inside the area.

The win moves the Brewers up to 12th in the table, just 5 points off the play-off places with nine games still to play.

BURTON ALBION 2 CHESTERFIELD 2 (20/03/10)

Anyone leaving the Pirelli Stadium before the final whistle will be kicking themselves again after Greg Pearson scored a dramatic equaliser in the 94th minute to rescue a point against Chesterfield.

The match was never going to live up to the drama of last weeks 11 goal thriller, but it did come close. A defensive mix up between Artur Krysiak and Andy Corbett allowed Ishmael Demontagnac a simple tap in to open the scoring. Russel Penn restored parity just before the break, firing home after Shaun Harrad headed on a cross from Jimmy Phillips.

The visitors regained the lead just after the hour mark when substitute Scott Boden drilled the ball into the net after being given too much time and space on the edge of the area.

The second half was end to end stuff and it looked as though Shaun Harrad would earn his side a point when he stepped up to take a penalty in the 88th minute after a foul on Aaron Webster. Harrad's spot kick was hit too close to Tommy Lee and the Spireites keeper pulled off a good save.

With the last few seconds of extra time ticking away, Greg Pearson was on hand at the back post to tap in the equaliser after Andy Corbett knocked down a cross from Shaun Harrad.

KELLY TRANSFER CLEARED BY FIFA (19/03/10)

Former Chester City defender Shaun Kelly has joined the Brewers after FIFA agreed to the move.

Sean has been without a club since Chester folded but he was initially denied the chance to come to the Pirelli Stadium due to the transfer window being closed.

Sean will wear shirt number 28 and should be included in the squad to face Chesterfield tomorrow.

BURTON ALBION 5 CHELTENHAM TOWN 6 (13/03/10)

The Brewers lost out in an amazing 11 goal thriller at the Pirelli Stadium as Michael Pook scored an injury time winner for the visitors.

The Brewers looked to be in complete control after Shaun Harrad opened the scoring after just two minutes and then doubled the advantage from the penalty spot just after the half hour mark.

Cheltenham came out fighting in the second period and levelled the scores through goals from Justin Richards on 54 minutes and Medy Elitio just two minutes later.

Albion were back in front within two minutes when Cleveland Taylor's cross was diverted into his own net by Michael Townsend. Steve Kabba restored a two goal advantage to make it 4-2 and although the Robins kept pressurising the Burton defence, no-one would have predicted what was to come in a crazy last ten minutes of the match.

Michael Pook made it 4-3 direct from a free kick only for Kabba to grab his second goal to make it 5-3 a minute later.

Pook netted his second goal with just four minutes to go to bring Cheltenham to within one goal of the Brewers, and amazingly Richards levelled the scores with 30 seconds of normal time remaining.

Then in an amazing finale, Pook completed his hat-trick with a long range effort that crashed off the crossbar and into the net to complete an incredible turnaround.

ALDERSHOT TOWN 0 BURTON ALBION 2 (06/03/10)

The Brewers picked up their first ever league victory at the Recreation Ground with a well earned win over high flying Aldershot Town.

First half goals from Tom Parkes and Steve Kabba, both from corner kicks, set up a lead that the home side never looked liked overturning.

The Shots created chances in the second half and Artur Krysiak had to make some smart saves to protect the lead. Some ridiculous refereeing decisions added to the overall entertainment of the afternoon and almost 200 Albion fans went home happy at the final whistle.
