BURTON ALBION 1 MACCLESFIELD TOWN 1 (29/09/09)
Greg
Pearson scored an equaliser for the Brewers to snatch a point in a
lack lustre display at the Pirelli Stadium.
Albion started the match brightly but failed to produce much end
product in front of goal. The visitors looked lively on the break
and Artur Krysiak made a smart save with his legs to deny Ben Wright
after the defence was caught napping. The warning was not heeded and
Emile Sinclair bagged the opening goal from an almost identical move
just minutes later.
Pearson's goal came at the end of a move of quality by Albion but it
was to be a rare flash of brilliance in an otherwise dour game.
Jon
Brain in the Macclesfield goal was forced to make a couple of saves
in the second half but the deadlock never really looked like being
broken.

BROWN HANDED BREWERS DEAL (28/09/09)
Defender Aaron Brown has signed a one month contract with the
Brewers after a successful loan spell.
Brown has been training with the squad and playing in reserve team
matches since his release from Yeovil Town in the summer.
He
started his career in non-league football with Stafford Rangers and
Tamworth before joining Premiership Reading for £100,000. Aaron did
not make a first team appearance for the Royals but did get first
team experience during loan spells at Bournemouth and Walsall.
He
made 25 appearances for Yeovil Town last season, scoring three
goals, before being released.

AFC BOURNEMOUTH 1 BURTON ALBION 0 (26/09/09)
The
Brewers were undone by a wonder strike from Brett Pitman in a game
that they dominated from start to finish.
Once
again Albion showed that they can hold their own in League 2 but
wasted chances in front of goal meant they ended the game empty
handed.
The
result means the Brewers dropped down to 14th place in the table.

STRIDE SET TO START AGAINST CHERRIES (26/09/09)
Skipper Darren Stride looks set to make his first start for the
Brewers this season and in doing so will rack up his 650th
appearance for the club.
Guy
Branston's red card in the defeat by Dagenham & Redbridge on
Saturday has handed Stride the opportunity to make the staring line
up for the first time this season after being limited to just three
substitute appearances.
Stride will finally get to realise his ambition to lead the team out
in the Football League, sixteen years and one day since making his
debut for Albion against Sandwell Borough on 25th September 1993.

BREWERS SIGN STRIKER SERGE
(25/09/09)
Congolese striker Serge Makofo
has joined the Brewers on a one month deal after impressing in
Tuesday nights reserve game against Macclesfield Town.
Makofo scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 drubbing of the Silkmen and
Albion manager Paul Peschisolido has signed him on a short term
contract to give him more time to try an earn a longer deal.
Serge started his career with MK Dons, making one appearance, before
drifting into non-league football with a succession of clubs. He
signed for Grays Athletic in the summer but left at the end of
August after just one game.

BURTON ALBION 0 DAGENHAM & REDBRIDGE 1 (19/09/09)
The
Daggers gained their 100th win in the Football League after Burton
missed a string of chances at the Pirelli Stadium.
The
visitors went ahead in the 4th minute when Paul Benson nipped in
between Tony James and Artur Krysiak to score from short range.
Andy
Corbett somehow managed to miss the target when only inches from
goal, and Shaun Harrad missed a penalty as the Brewers pressed for
an equaliser in the first half.
The
start of the second half saw Robin Shroot and Shaun Harrad both have
efforts just over the crossbar but a red card for Guy Branston on
the hour mark gave the Brewers a mountain to climb.
Corbett's backpass was picked up by Benson and he was bundled off by
Branston with the referee adjudging that he was the last man.
Greg
Pearson did have the ball in the net in the 81st minute but a very
late flag from the referee's assistant ruled it out for offside.

BRADFORD CITY 1 BURTON ALBION 1 (12/09/09)
Paul
Boertien celebrated his 200th league appearance as first goal for
the Brewers earned a great point against in form Bradford City.
The
home capitalised on defensive frailties to take the lead in the
first half but Albion battled back to draw level. Boertien popped up
in the penalty area to score only the fourth goal of his career,
firing the ball into the net after good work from Richard Walker.
Other results mean that the Brewers drop down to 10th place in the
table but the team will be full of confidence ahead of next
Saturday's home clash with second placed Dagenham & Redbridge.

BREWERS GO INTERNATIONAL (08/09/09)
Burton Albion kicked off their season in the Central Reserve League
tonight with two young Dutch footballers in their team.
Former Galatasary midfielder Ferdi Elmas and former Ajax striker
Nick Van Eijsden were in the starting line up and combined to score
the opening goal in the 2-1 win against Sheffield Wednesday at
Hillsborough.
Russel Penn scored Albion's second before the home side pulled a
goal back after Aaron Brown diverted a cross past Kevin Poole into
his own net.
Elmas, 24, has dual nationality and has represented both Turkey and
the Netherlands and has had club level first team experience in both
countries. Van Eijsden is a former Ajax youth team player, although
very little else is none about his career.

NOTTS COUNTY 1 BURTON ALBION 1 (05/09/09)
A
late strike from substitute Richard Walker gave the Brewers a well
deserved point against big spending Notts County.
The
Magpies presented new signing Sol Campbell before the kick off but
it was Albion centre half Guy Branston that took centre stage with a
commanding performance.
Albion had the better of the first half chances but could not find a
way past Kasper Schmeichal in goal. The home side took the lead in
the second half, with a goal that looked suspiciously offside as
Karl Hawley was put clear to chip over Artur Krysiak.
Paul
Peschisolido made all of his three substitutions as the Brewers
began to tire and within minutes Walker controlled the ball smartly
in the box before turning and drilling the ball into the net.
The
post denied over 1200 Albion fans a famous victory in the dying
seconds but a draw was a fair result.

BURTON ALBION 1 CHESTERFIELD 5 (01/09/09)
The
Brewers are now concentrating on the league after crashing out of
the Dulux Dog Tin Pot Cup competition.
Losing in this competition at the first hurdle is certainly not a
disaster, however the nature of the defeat will give manager Paul
Peschisolido cause for concern.
The
visitors were quicker, sharper and overall better in every
department. Burton gave themselves a glimmer of hope with a goal at
the start of the second half but the visitors exposed Albion's
defensive frailties with simple route one football and could have
won by a landslide but for saves from Artur Krysiak and some wayward
finishing.
